WHERE YOLI COMES FROM
Growing up, my mother's home cooking was one of the few threads connecting me to our Korean heritage. As a second-generation Korean American, I didn't have many clear ties to my ancestral lineage, but the dishes she made at home were a constant.
She cooked the food that felt like home to her, drawn from memory and the cravings of her upbringing. Like so many in the Korean diaspora, she used the ingredients she could find, creating a new sense of home in a new place.
Yoli Pantry is a nod to those roots,
an honoring of my ties to Korea,
seen through an American perspective.
